L'heure verte — the Green Hour — was the real name for 5PM in 19th century Paris. The hour when Verlaine, Rimbaud, Oscar Wilde, Toulouse-Lautrec all sat in cafés drinking absinthe. Absinthe is pale, translucent, green. Exactly the colour of Green Amethyst. It was the hour of poets and painters. The hour before evening. Suspended, luminous, slightly dangerous. The name carries enormous cultural weight. And the stone's colour is literally absinthe.
