Squircle Earrings

The Squircle Collection began with a shape that wasn't meant to exist. Known mathematically as the superellipse, the squircle sits between a square and a circle — neither fully angular nor completely soft. Danish designer and mathematician Piet Hein called it the bridge between the curved and the straight, spending much of his life exploring a form that refused to choose one side. Nature arrives at the same answer. Under pressure, volcanic rock forms similar shapes. Engineers use rounded corners because sharp ones concentrate force and eventually break. Strength, it turns out, doesn't come from rigidity but from the ability to distribute tension. That idea became the foundation of this collection. At its centre sits a grey stone, framed by four diamonds placed where corners would have been — except these corners curve rather than demand. The result is structure without harshness, strength without aggression, and a shape that holds opposing forces in perfect balance. It sounds imagined. It isn't. And that's precisely the beauty of it.
